During my time at university, I became captivated by the concept of the visual essay—the art of building a whole argument using nothing but a cabinet of curated images and fragments of text.
This gallery is a personal map of the ideas, histories, and themes I am carrying forward into my upcoming project. Before you wander through it, I ask you to carry a few questions quietly in your mind:
How do these fragments speak to one another? Why have they been gathered under the title “things that needed to be”? And truly—is an answer even necessary?
These thoughts are entirely my own, and they may wander away from yours. But I promise you, nothing here is random. Every image carries its own history and intent. If a particular slide catches your eye, I encourage you to fall down the rabbit hole and research its origin for yourself.
